Delhi Blast Tragedy: A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening turned an ordinary day into a nightmare. The blast, which ripped through an i20 car, was so intense that the nearby area trembled in fear. Several people lost their lives in the incident — four of them from Uttar Pradesh.
Amroha: Some had come to Delhi in search of work to feed their families, others to see a sick relative or buy goods for their small businesses — but destiny had other plans. What was supposed to be a routine day in the capital became their last. With the death toll rising, four of the deceased have been identified as residents of Uttar Pradesh, while three others remain critically injured. Two more bodies are yet to be identified.
Families across UP are in deep mourning — homes once filled with laughter now echo with cries of grief.
Among the deceased are Ashok Singh and Lokesh Agarwal from Amroha. The two were close friends — Ashok worked with the Delhi Transport Corporation, while Lokesh was a fertilizer trader. Dinesh Kumar (32) from Shravasti and Nauman (22) from Shamli also lost their lives in the explosion.
Laborers and Traders Among the Victims
Dinesh and his friend Mohsin worked as daily wage laborers in Delhi. Nauman had traveled to the capital to purchase cosmetic goods for his local shop in Shamli. Lokesh had come to Delhi to visit his ailing mother-in-law and had planned to meet Ashok in the evening. Lokesh took the metro to Red Fort, where Ashok arrived to pick him up. Moments after the two sat in the car, a massive explosion tore through the vehicle — killing them instantly.
Families Devastated, Women Fainted in Grief
The bodies of Ashok and Lokesh were brought to Amroha early Tuesday morning. As soon as the ambulance arrived, wails and cries filled the air. Women in the family fainted upon seeing the charred remains of their loved ones.
Protest Over Compensation Demand
Ashok Singh’s relatives placed his body on the road in protest, demanding that a senior administrative officer visit the site. They refused to perform the last rites until the family was assured of government compensation and a job for one dependent member.
Three from UP Still Battling for Life
Meanwhile, Shiva Jaiswal from Deoria, Pappu from Agra, and Mohammad Daud from Ghaziabad are undergoing treatment at LNJP Hospital in Delhi. Their condition remains serious. Following the blast, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued a statewide high alert and instructed police officials to coordinate closely with Delhi authorities during the investigation.
“They went seeking life and hope in the city — but found death instead.”
The tragedy has left the nation shaken and families shattered, as questions continue to mount over how such a deadly blast could occur in the heart of the capital.
