Wanted Cattle Smuggler Haseen Killed in Hapur Encounter — ₹50,000 Bounty, Over 25 Cases Including Attempted Murder and Gangster Act

Varun Sharma, Hapur: In a major success for Uttar Pradesh Police, a wanted criminal and cattle smuggler carrying a ₹50,000 bounty, identified as Haseen, son of Ikraar, was shot dead in an encounter with police in Hapur district late Saturday night. The gunfight took place in the Kapoor police station area during a routine vehicle checking operation.

According to police officials, Haseen was a notorious criminal involved in over 25 serious cases, including attempted murder, cattle smuggling, dacoity, theft, and offences under the Gangster Act. He had been on the radar of law enforcement agencies across multiple districts — Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal, Amroha, and Gautam Buddha Nagar — for a long time.

Encounter Details

The confrontation began when police signaled a white Swift Dzire car to stop at a checkpoint. Instead of complying, the suspect opened fire on the police team. Officers retaliated in self-defense, during which Haseen sustained gunshot injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

From the site, police recovered an illegal pistol, live cartridges, and the Swift Dzire car used by the accused.

Police Statement

Hapur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyananjay Singh said the operation was launched following a Dial 100 tip-off about cattle smugglers planning a major crime in the area. “When our team tried to intercept their vehicle, the criminals opened fire. In retaliatory action, one was neutralized while another managed to flee under the cover of darkness,” the SP said.

Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace the absconding accomplice.

Long Criminal History

Haseen’s record spans multiple districts and includes charges of murder attempt, armed robbery, cattle trafficking, and organized crime. His violent background and repeated involvement in illegal activities had made him one of the most wanted criminals in western Uttar Pradesh.

Officials described the encounter as a major breakthrough in the crackdown against organized cattle-smuggling gangs and habitual offenders operating in the region.
