Noida Police Touch Death and Bounce Back — A Daring Cyber Rescue Saves ₹5 Crore from Fraud

Noida: In a dramatic and commendable operation, the Noida Police Cyber Cell saved seven investors from losing nearly ₹5 crore in a sophisticated stock market scam spanning five states. The victims had already transferred between ₹12 lakh and ₹40 lakh each to the fraudsters and were on the verge of investing even more when the police intervened just in time.

Reminiscent of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s famous dialogue — “Main maut ko choo kar wapas aa sakta hoon” (I can touch death and come back) — the Noida Police indeed turned that line into reality. Acting swiftly, officers foiled what could have been one of the biggest cyber investment scams in Uttar Pradesh’s recent history.

ADCP Cyber, Shavya Goyal, revealed that the cybercrime team had been closely tracking the gang’s operations. During surveillance, they identified several victims trapped in online investment groups promising unrealistic returns of 50% to 100%. The gang lured investors through social media groups claiming to offer stock market and high-yield trading opportunities.

A special cyber team led by Commando Sachin Dhama was formed to dismantle the fraud network. The investigation revealed that victims hailed from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha, and Rajasthan — all manipulated by the same cyber fraud syndicate for months.

Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh praised the swift coordination between Cyber Intelligence, Financial Intelligence, and other agencies, crediting their combined effort for preventing the financial crime before it could occur. The DGP of Uttar Pradesh has announced an award for the Noida Police for their exceptional vigilance and prompt action.

This case stands as a shining example of how timely intelligence and proactive policing can turn the tide in cybercrime — saving not just money, but faith in law enforcement’s digital vigilance.
