Kanpur: A chilling crime has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, where a young man was allegedly held hostage and tortured for over eight hours by a notorious history-sheeter and his accomplices. The disturbing videos of the brutality have gone viral on social media, prompting swift police action.
In one of the videos, history-sheeter Amar Verma from the Barra police station area can be seen pressing his foot on the victim’s chest and attempting to strangle him. The victim collapses, vomiting and losing consciousness, after which he is forcibly revived — only to be beaten again. Shockingly, the victim was also made to clean the room while still injured and weak.
According to sources, the horrifying scenes were recorded and shared deliberately to spread fear in the area. The perpetrators are believed to have been intoxicated during the assault. The victim, said to be a close associate of Amar Verma, reportedly had a falling out with him prior to the incident.
After the videos went viral, police took suo motu cognizance of the case. Multiple clips circulating online show Amar Verma and his associate Aman Pandey thrashing and torturing the victim in a closed room.
ACP Naubasta confirmed that no official complaint has yet been filed, but police have begun tracing both the victim and the accused.
“The viral videos clearly show the involvement of Amar Verma and Aman Pandey. We are verifying details and will take strict action. A search operation is underway,” the ACP stated.
Police teams have been deployed to locate the accused and interrogate their family members. The incident has sent shockwaves across Kanpur, raising concerns over the rising audacity of local criminals using social media to display acts of terror and dominance.
