Gazipur: A female constable posted at the city police lines has filed a formal complaint against a male colleague, alleging harassment, intimidation, and interference in her personal life that led to the break-up of her engagement. The accused constable, stationed on jail security duty in Gazipur, reportedly obtained her phone number from the duty roster and began contacting her, initially under the pretext of routine discussion.
According to the complainant, after discovering that she was engaged—with her wedding scheduled for March 2026—the male constable began issuing threats. When she refused to engage in conversation, he allegedly went to the extent of repeatedly banging on the gate of her quarters at night. The female constable claims that the colleague spread false rumors and plotted to sabotage her upcoming marriage.
The victim stated that social stigma and fear initially prevented her from approaching the Superintendent of Police directly, but the harassment escalated when the accused contacted her fiancé on October 31, conveying false information that led to the engagement being called off. She added that her family remains unaware of the incident and the wedding preparations were already underway before the disruption.
The female constable has urged police authorities to take strict action against the accused. Gazipur Kotwali police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
