Atiq Ahmed Gang Empire Crumbled: Cash Stash Worth Crores Seized in Pratapgarh — IPS Deepak Bhukar Earns Praise for Bold Operation

Pratapgarh (UP): In yet another display of fearless policing, Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Bhukar has struck a major blow to the underworld network linked to the notorious Atiq Ahmed gang. Acting on a precise intelligence input, Bhukar’s team raided the house of drug trafficker Rajesh Mishra in Pratapgarh and unearthed a massive cash stash worth around ₹2 crore.

For nearly 20 hours, police officials counted stacks of ₹10, ₹50, and ₹100 notes with the help of four counting machines. The operation, conducted under the direct supervision of SP Bhukar, has gone viral on social media — with citizens hailing his courage and commitment to wiping out the drug mafia.

A Mastermind Operation

Acting on information that Mishra was running his narcotics network from jail through his wife and children, Bhukar personally designed the entire operation blueprint. Using drone surveillance and technical tracking, his team raided the premises on 8 November, breaking through the door when the accused’s family tried to mislead the police. What followed was a dramatic discovery of hidden cash and incriminating evidence.

Supervised Every Step

SP Bhukar arrived at the scene himself and monitored the 20-hour-long counting process. The entire operation was video-recorded before the seized money was deposited in the bank. The team included ASP (West) Brijnandan Rai, CO Kunda Amarnath Gupta, and Manikpur Police personnel. “These drug traffickers are poisoning our society and destroying future generations. We will eradicate this network from Pratapgarh,” Bhukar declared.

Known for “Operation Langda” in Unnao

Before Pratapgarh, Bhukar served as SP Unnao, where he launched the famous ‘Operation Langda’, during which 33 encounters were conducted and 42 criminals were shot in the leg — earning the operation its name (“Langda” meaning “limping”). In just 371 days, he booked 43 gangsters under the Gangster Act, invoked the Goonda Act against 272 miscreants, and confiscated properties of 169 criminals.

The Officer Who Destroyed Atiq’s Empire

A 2016-batch IPS officer, Bhukar earlier served in Jaunpur, Moradabad, Hapur, and Prayagraj. In Prayagraj, he spearheaded decisive action against Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf’s criminal syndicate, seizing illegal assets worth ₹180 crore. His team neutralized two shooters of advocate Umesh Pal’s murder case and reclaimed government land illegally acquired in the name of the poor. His strategic crackdowns dismantled Atiq’s entire financial and operational network across Uttar Pradesh.

Personal Background

Born on July 28, 1986, in Gauria village of Jhajjar district, Haryana, Deepak Bhukar comes from a disciplined background — his father Narendra Pal Singh served 17 years in the Indian Army and later became a college lecturer. Bhukar completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Delhi University. In 2019, he married IRS officer Aditi Mor.

With each posting, IPS Deepak Bhukar has earned a reputation as a fearless and result-oriented officer — a name that now resonates across Uttar Pradesh’s fight against organized crime.
