Aghori Sadhvi Chanchalnath Stopped at Taj Mahal Gate for Carrying Trishul and Damru — Leaves Without Entering

Agra: In an unusual incident at the Taj Mahal on Thursday, Aghori Sadhvi Chanchalnath, popularly known as Chanchal Mata, was stopped by security personnel after she arrived at the monument carrying a trishul (trident) in one hand and a damru (sacred drum) in the other. The CISF and ASI officials stationed at the eastern gate refused to allow her entry with the religious objects, citing security restrictions.

The Sadhvi, dressed in traditional attire, agreed to leave the trishul and damru outside but requested to carry a small metal vessel with her, claiming it was the one she used for meals. However, the security officials also denied permission for that item. Displeased by the decision, she reportedly left the Taj Mahal premises without entering.

According to reports, Mahant Chanchal Yoginath, who is also known as Aghori Sadhvi Chanchalnath or Chanchal Mata, resides in Karnal and is widely known for her claimed mystical and spiritual powers. She is said to perform rituals such as lighting sacred fires without using a matchstick or lighter.

Born in a spiritual family in West Bengal, Chanchalnath chose the Aghor path at the age of seven and dedicated her life to asceticism. Over the years, she has gained a massive following in India and abroad. Her devotees visit her for blessings, and she remains highly active on social media, with a strong presence on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

Her visit to the Taj Mahal quickly went viral on social media after videos surfaced showing a large crowd gathering around her at the monument’s entrance. Many admirers clicked photos and videos with her before she eventually departed.

This incident has sparked discussion online about religious expression, security protocols, and cultural identity at heritage sites.
