Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a woman in Lotan, Siddharthnagar was brutally beaten by her husband, leaving her fighting for her life. The man reportedly attacked his wife with sticks, rods, and shoes, causing severe injuries. Her face was blackened due to swelling, one of her arms was broken, and she suffered deep injuries to her private parts, making her condition critical.
Medical Emergency and Transfer
The severely injured woman was first admitted to Lotan CHC, then referred to the District Hospital, and finally moved to Gorakhpur Medical College due to her worsening condition. She remains unconscious, and her treatment is ongoing.
Background of the Incident
The victim, a resident of Kolhui, Maharajganj district, had married into a village in Lotan, Siddharthnagar district. According to family members, the husband frequently subjected her to harassment and physical abuse. Distressed, she had temporarily returned to her parental home. On 16 November, following a family-mediated reconciliation, she returned to her marital home.
The Attack
On the night of 17 November, her husband again attacked her mercilessly with sticks, rods, and shoes, leaving her critically injured. The victim’s brother filed a complaint, leading the police to register a case under Section 308 of the IPC.
Police Action
ASP Prashant Kumar Prasad confirmed that the investigation is underway and assured that the accused husband will be arrested soon. Authorities have emphasized that domestic violence will be dealt with strictly under the law.
