Uttar Pradesh Weather Live: Rain Expected in Western Districts, Temperature to Dip

Under the influence of a western disturbance, Uttar Pradesh is set to experience a change in weather conditions over the next few days. The state capital, Lucknow, may witness moderate rainfall on January 27, following a slight drop in nighttime temperatures on Monday. Cloudy skies and light winds during the day are expected to keep the maximum temperature lower than usual.

Cloudy Skies Across Western UP
Noida and Ghaziabad are also seeing overcast conditions, and several districts in the Awadh region may experience light showers by evening.

  • 10:17 PM, Jan 26, 2026 – Heavy Rain Lowers Temperature in Meerut: Rain has started in Meerut and surrounding districts. The downpour has caused a noticeable dip in temperatures. Dark clouds loom over the skies, and poorly drained low-lying areas have seen waterlogging.
  • 10:08 PM – Hail and Thunderstorm Alert in Western UP: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain, hail, thunderstorms, and strong winds in western Uttar Pradesh. Rainfall is likely in districts ranging from Meerut, Shamli, and Ghaziabad to Ayodhya and Sultanpur over the next two days.
  • 10:07 PM – Daytime Temperature to Hover Around 19°C: Following the rain, temperatures are expected to drop. Cities including Ghaziabad, Noida, Meerut, and Muzaffarnagar may see a maximum temperature of 19°C on January 27, while cloudy conditions may keep minimum temperatures slightly higher.
  • 10:07 PM – Weather to Change Between January 29–31: Another shift in weather is expected between January 29–31, bringing further night-time temperature drops, increased cold, and dense fog. Many cities, including Lucknow, have recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C, while cold westerly winds have kept daytime warmth limited.

Snowfall in Uttarakhand Hills
Uttarakhand’s high-altitude areas, including Badrinath and Kedarnath, witnessed snowfall once again on Tuesday, marking the second snowfall within a week. In Chamoli district, snow fell intermittently at Badrinath, while Kedarnath and surrounding peaks in Rudraprayag district were covered with fresh snow. Snow also accumulated on the high peaks of Uttarkashi district, including Bandarpoonch.

Clouds Over Gangotri and Yamunotri
Cloudy conditions persisted in Gangotri, Yamunotri, and surrounding areas of Uttarkashi, while the plains, including Dehradun, remained dry. Earlier, on January 23, heavy snowfall had blanketed the region with a thick layer of snow after a long wait.
