Uttar Pradesh Weather Alert for February 1: Light Rain in 16 Districts, Strong Winds to Intensify Cold, IMD Warns

Lucknow: Amid severe winter conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for Uttar Pradesh for Saturday, February 1, 2026, forecasting light rainfall in 16 districts and strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph in 11 districts, which may further intensify the cold wave.

According to IMD, the impact of the changing weather will be most prominent in Western Uttar Pradesh and the Bundelkhand region, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain largely dry and clear.

Rain Likely in These Districts

Light rain is likely to occur in several districts of western UP, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Shamli, Meerut, Baghpat, Saharanpur and Bulandshahr. In addition, districts such as Aligarh, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah and Auraiya may also experience rainfall.
The IMD has also warned of possible lightning strikes in isolated areas, advising residents to remain cautious.

Strong Winds to Sweep Western UP and Bundelkhand

Along with rainfall, gusty winds at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected to sweep across parts of western UP, including Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Etah, Hathras and Firozabad.
In the Bundelkhand region, districts such as Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur are also likely to witness strong winds, which may cause a noticeable drop in temperatures.

• Lucknow: The state capital will witness clear skies and bright sunshine, with no rainfall expected. Humidity may remain around 66%.
• Varanasi: Cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine are likely. Temperatures may hover between 12°C and 22°C.
• Gorakhpur: Clear weather with strong sunshine is expected. Winds may reach 8 kmph, while temperatures will range between 11°C and 21°C.

Cold to Intensify

Meteorologists say that the combination of rainfall and strong winds could lead to a further drop in perceived temperatures, especially during early morning and night hours. People are advised to take necessary precautions against cold weather and stay alert during adverse conditions.
