Lucknow, UP: In a major step to boost tourism, Uttar Pradesh Tourism will run an awareness campaign on the Home Stay and Bed & Breakfast (B&B) schemes across the state from January 14 to 30, 2026. The initiative aims to educate people about the schemes, review pending applications, and issue registration certificates immediately to eligible participants.
This move aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of enhancing tourism facilities and creating new employment opportunities for local residents.
Door-to-Door Awareness Drive
During the campaign, tourism department teams in each district will visit households to explain the benefits of the Home Stay and B&B schemes. Pending applications will be reviewed, and eligible applicants will receive their registration certificates on the spot.
To ensure the success of the campaign, a budget of ₹2 lakh per district has been allocated for awareness activities and promotional materials. Officials believe this initiative will strengthen the state’s tourism sector and help residents who are unaware of these schemes to take full advantage.
About the Schemes
The Home Stay and B&B schemes, launched in 2025 under CM Yogi Adityanath’s guidance, aim to provide tourists with affordable, comfortable accommodation while enabling local families to earn additional income. Residents can convert their homes into Home Stays, offering tourists a homely environment, homemade meals, and an authentic cultural experience.
These schemes provide an excellent alternative to costly hotels, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in local culture while directly benefiting local communities. The campaign will particularly focus on districts with high tourism potential, including Mathura, Varanasi, Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. During major events such as the Maha Kumbh, Deepotsav, and Rangotsav, these schemes prove especially valuable for accommodating the influx of tourists.
Economic and Cultural Impact
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath believes that such initiatives will not only attract tourists but also strengthen the local economy. Tourists staying in local homes are likely to buy local products, enjoy regional cuisine, and interact with residents, generating direct economic benefits and employment opportunities. Moreover, the schemes promote the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat”, allowing visitors to experience the diverse cultures and lifestyles of different regions of India.
