Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, present at the event, emphasized that India is no longer a weak nation and is now producing its own weapons, with Uttar Pradesh leading the way.
Inspection of E-Buses
During the visit, CM Yogi Adityanath inspected the factory’s e-buses and later toured the facility with Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Rajnath Singh. A documentary on the journey of Ashok Leyland and the Hinduja Group was also screened at the inauguration.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has transformed from a backward “BIMARU” state into the highest revenue-generating state. “The state has become a land of celebrations, with events happening every month,” he said.
Defence Manufacturing Centre in UP
Rajnath Singh said Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major contributor to India’s defence capabilities. “With the Defence Corridor, weapons, ammunition, and combat equipment for the Indian Army will now be manufactured at scale in our state. BrahMos Aerospace is already producing BrahMos missiles here, which were previously imported. This marks a historic shift in India’s self-reliance,” he added.
New Policies and Employment Opportunities
The Defence Minister highlighted the Uttar Pradesh Aerospace and Defence Unit and Employment Promotion Policy, aimed at generating thousands of crores in new industries and creating millions of jobs over the next five years. He stated, “Children from our villages, towns, and cities will now work here, earn here, and support their families.”
He also mentioned the Fortune Global 500 & Fortune India 500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy 2023, designed to boost investment and industrial growth in the state.
Praise for CM Yogi
Rajnath Singh lauded CM Yogi for his initiative in making Uttar Pradesh a defence manufacturing hub. “The production of BrahMos missiles in UP is a direct result of CM Yogi’s proactive efforts in providing land, inspecting the site, and ensuring timely completion. His leadership is commendable,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh is now poised to become a key player in India’s self-reliant defence and industrial landscape.
