Patna, Bihar: Bihar’s political landscape is witnessing significant changes within the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) as party supremo Upendra Kushwaha prepares for a major organizational reshuffle. In an effort to ease internal dissent and restore confidence among party legislators, Kushwaha is expected to announce Dinara MLA Alok Singh as the new Bihar state president during a press conference at Maurya Hotel, Patna, at 1:30 PM today.
Ending Internal Discord
Sources indicate that recent tensions within the party, fueled by disagreements over leadership decisions, have prompted the move. Senior leader Madhav Anand and MLA Alok Singh reportedly met Kushwaha in Patna to discuss the way forward. Following deliberations, it was decided that Alok Singh would take charge of the party’s state organization. Madhav Anand currently serves as the leader of the legislative party, while Kushwaha’s wife, Sneh Lata Kushwaha, continues to oversee organizational affairs as party convenor.
Strategic Caste and Regional Considerations
Political analysts suggest that the appointment is a carefully planned strategy aimed at strengthening RLM’s base among the Rajput community in the Shahabad region. By placing Alok Singh at the helm, Kushwaha seeks to maintain a balance between his own Kushwaha community and the influential Rajput voters, thereby consolidating the party’s grassroots support ahead of upcoming elections.
Message of Unity
The press conference is being closely watched, as Kushwaha has faced criticism in recent days over personal decisions, including the controversial ministerial appointment of his son without elections. By appointing Alok Singh, Kushwaha aims to signal that the party remains united and that leadership roles are being allocated democratically to senior and capable leaders. If confirmed, this move could chart a new course for RLM and strengthen its organizational structure ahead of future electoral battles.
