Upendra Kushwaha Appoints Alok Kumar Singh as Bihar Unit President Amid Internal Party Tensions

Patna, Bihar – National Lok Morcha (RLM) chief and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha has taken a strategic step to address growing dissent within his party. On Friday, he appointed party MLA Alok Kumar Singh, who had recently displayed rebellious tendencies, as the new president of the Bihar unit of RLM.

Reorganization of the Bihar Unit

Alok Kumar Singh, a Rajya Sabha member and part of Kushwaha’s family circle—his wife Snehlata is among the party’s four legislators and their son Deepak Prakash serves as a minister in the state cabinet—said the party’s Bihar unit was reorganized following the recent assembly elections. “I am pleased to announce that Alok Kumar Singh from Dinara has been appointed as the new state president of the party,” an RLM spokesperson said.

Addressing Internal Discontent

Singh was among three legislators who had recently skipped a party-hosted luncheon by Kushwaha and later met BJP president Nitin Naveen. Party sources suggest some dissatisfaction within RLM over the emphasis given to family members in party affairs. However, both Kushwaha and other leaders denied any discord during a press conference, emphasizing unity and commitment to advancing the party.

Other Key Appointments

Alongside Singh’s appointment, Madan Chaudhary was named National Vice President (Organization), Prashant Pankaj and Subhash Chandravanshi as State Executive Presidents, and Himanshu Patel as State General Secretary. RLM leader Madhav Anand, a long-time associate of Kushwaha, welcomed the appointments on social media, expressing confidence that the newly appointed leaders would strengthen the organization.

Commitment to Growth and Development

At the press conference, Alok Kumar Singh expressed gratitude for the new responsibility, recalling his previous role as head of the party’s parliamentary board in Bihar. He highlighted RLM’s success in winning four out of six seats in the recent assembly elections and pledged to take the party to new heights. Kushwaha also announced plans for a special membership drive across all organizational levels in line with party constitution and reaffirmed support for the “double-engine” government in Bihar, aiming to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India.
