UP Weather Update: December to Bring Drop in Temperatures, Dense Fog Likely Across the State

Lucknow: As December sets in, Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for a noticeable shift in weather conditions. Meteorologists predict a gradual dip in temperatures over the coming days, marking the beginning of a colder phase across the state. Currently, the weather remains pleasant during the day, but evenings and nights have begun to turn distinctly chilly.

Temperatures Expected to Fall by 2–4°C

According to forecasts, both maximum and minimum temperatures in UP may drop by 2–4°C in the first week of December. While sunny afternoons are offering comfort, the mercury begins to fall sharply after sunset, resulting in moderate nighttime cold.

The month is expected to begin with dry weather conditions.

  • 1 December: Clear skies are likely in western and eastern UP with shallow to moderate fog at a few places during the early morning hours.
  • 2–3 December: Weather will continue to remain clear statewide.
  • 4–6 December: Dry conditions will persist in most parts of the state with no weather alert issued until 6 December.

Temperature Fluctuations Across Districts

Uttar Pradesh is experiencing noticeable variations in temperature:

  • Bareilly recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 8°C.
  • Etawah reported 9.4°C,
  • Najibabad 9.5°C,
  • Muzaffarnagar 9.6°C,
  • Lucknow 12.8°C.

On the other hand, the lowest maximum temperature was recorded in Bulandshahr at 22°C, followed by:

  • Moradabad at 23.4°C,
  • Bareilly at 23.7°C,
  • Etawah at 24.4°C,
  • Lucknow at 26.6°C.

Western Disturbances Losing Grip, Cold Winds to Take Over

Weather expert Atul Kumar Singh said that the influence of two active western disturbances, which had caused recent temperature fluctuations, is now reducing. As cold and dry northwesterly winds regain strength, temperatures are expected to gradually fall within the next 3–4 days.

Morning fog and low visibility are likely in several regions. Meteorologists have warned that early hours may witness hazy conditions, potentially affecting road travel.
