UP Weather Today, February 5: Minimum Temperature Drops, Dense Fog in Several Districts; IMD Issues Alert

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh continues to witness fluctuating weather patterns, with minimum temperatures dropping once again across the state. The Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay cautious amid changing conditions.

Fog and Temperature Trends:

Following clear skies after recent rainfall, several districts recorded a decline in minimum temperatures. The western disturbances influencing the region had earlier raised night temperatures to 14–15°C, but Wednesday saw a noticeable dip. Dense fog is now affecting 13 districts, disrupting rail and air travel.

Areas experiencing moderate to dense fog include Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Agra, Kanpur, and Prayagraj. Meteorologists expect the fog to lift as the day progresses, with bright sunlight warming the state during the afternoon. However, strong westerly winds will maintain a slight chill even during daytime. Maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 24°C.

Lucknow Records Drop in Night Temperature:

In the state capital, the minimum temperature fell sharply from 14.3°C on Tuesday to 10.9°C on Wednesday after skies cleared. Such continuous fluctuations in nighttime temperatures have been observed across multiple districts.

Cause of Fluctuations:

The Meteorological Department attributes the temperature variations to the ongoing influence of western disturbances. Movement of clouds in the upper atmosphere affects dew formation, resulting in cooler nights. Two more western disturbances are expected to impact the region on February 7 and 10. Although these are not expected to bring rainfall, the cloud cover may once again lead to slight increases in minimum temperatures.

Daytime Weather:

Westerly winds have also caused slight drops in daytime temperatures. For instance, Lucknow recorded a maximum of 22.7°C on Wednesday, down from 26°C on Monday. Similar trends were seen across most parts of the state. Residents are advised to remain prepared for cold mornings and evenings in the coming days.
