Lucknow/Prayagraj: The weather in Uttar Pradesh is showing continual fluctuations, influenced by the western disturbance currently active over the region. The effects of this system have been visible from western to eastern parts of the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tuesday morning saw cloudy skies across the state. Light rainfall was recorded in parts of Varanasi, while western winds combined with the western disturbance brought noticeable changes in temperature and weather conditions across the region. From Lucknow to Prayagraj, residents experienced variable weather, including intermittent showers and gusty winds.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, noted that the western disturbance, which has been active over northern Pakistan, was affecting Punjab and Haryana before moving into western and eastern Uttar Pradesh on Monday, bringing strong winds and rainfall.
Impact of Fog: Dense fog was observed from Lucknow to Noida and Ghaziabad. In Agra, the morning fog was so thick that the Taj Mahal was barely visible from the Taj Viewpoint. Similar fog conditions were reported in Muradabad, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, and Kanpur. A similar foggy morning is expected on Wednesday.
Rainfall and Temperature: From Banda to Lucknow, intermittent rainfall was recorded on Tuesday morning. In Lucknow, dark clouds appeared around 8 AM, with sporadic rain continuing for some time. Surrounding districts including Barabanki, Unnao, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur also experienced rainfall. Banda recorded light to moderate rainfall for nearly two hours, causing a dip in temperatures. Lucknow saw a maximum temperature of 21°C.
The IMD predicts that as clouds clear on Wednesday, sunshine will increase daytime temperatures. However, the minimum temperature may drop due to lingering fog and cold winds. Overall, residents should expect a mix of rain, fog, and fluctuating temperatures across the state.
