UP Weather Forecast for 24 January: Western Disturbance Brings Rain and Drop in Temperatures

A Western Disturbance is beginning to impact parts of Uttar Pradesh, especially the border regions, bringing conditions similar to rainfall and snowfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued updates on the expected weather for 24 January.

Weather Impact Across Uttar Pradesh
The Western Disturbance is expected to intensify, affecting central and eastern parts of the state. While strong sunlight in the eastern regions has provided some daytime warmth, westerly winds have caused night temperatures to drop. On Friday morning, several areas in western Uttar Pradesh experienced rainfall-like conditions, accompanied by gusty winds, further reducing temperatures.

Lucknow to Feel the Effect
The combination of westerly winds and rain is likely to affect Lucknow. On Thursday, minimum temperature in Lucknow fell to 8.3°C. With expected thunderstorms and rainfall on Friday, night temperatures may drop further. Rain and winds are predicted to affect Lucknow and surrounding districts from evening to late night.

Forecast for the Coming Days

  • The currently active Western Disturbance is expected to remain influential until 25 January.
  • Post this period, weather is expected to be clear for Republic Day on 26 January.
  • However, a new Western Disturbance may bring another intense spell of rainfall from 27 to 29 January.

Cold and Fog Conditions Expected
After rainfall, cold and foggy conditions are likely to return. Meteorologists indicate that surface westerly winds following the Western Disturbance will carry chilly air from the mountains to the plains, causing a temperature drop. Additionally, post-rain sunshine on wet ground may increase fog intensity, intensifying the cold in the state.

Observed Rainfall
On Thursday, western Uttar Pradesh experienced rainfall due to the Western Disturbance. Light to moderate rain was recorded in areas ranging from Ghaziabad and Noida to Jhansi and Chitrakoot. Gusty westerly winds added to the cold effect. In Noida and Ghaziabad, rain continued into the afternoon, bringing maximum temperatures down to 18°C. On Saturday, similar conditions are expected, with maximum temperatures around 18°C and minimum temperatures near 8°C in these areas.

City-Wise Forecast

  • Lucknow: Maximum ~24°C, Minimum ~10°C, with clouds and possible rain.
  • Kanpur: Maximum ~23°C, Minimum ~10°C, with intermittent rain and cloud cover.

Residents are advised to stay updated on local weather reports and take necessary precautions during rain, strong winds, and cold spells.
