UP Weather Alert: Cold Wave Expected on 15–16 November; Kanpur Hits 8°C

Lucknow: As winter gradually tightens its grip, Uttar Pradesh is set to experience a cold wave over the next two days. According to the Meteorological Department, nights are becoming noticeably colder, while daytime temperatures remain mild. A cold wave alert has been issued for 15 and 16 November, with patches of light to moderate fog expected in the early mornings.

Weather forecasts indicate dry conditions across the western and eastern regions of the state on 15 November, with occasional thin fog in the mornings. Similar clear and dry conditions are expected on 16 November. While no formal alerts have been issued for 17–20 November, the weather is expected to remain generally clear.

Minimum Temperatures Across Key Cities:

  • Kanpur: 8°C
  • Etawah: 8.4°C
  • Bareilly: 9.2°C
  • Ayodhya: 9.5°C
  • Barabanki: 9.6°C
  • Lucknow: 11.4°C
  • Bulandshahr: 10°C
  • Shahjahanpur: 10.2°C
  • Meerut: 10.6°C
  • Muzaffarnagar: 10.5°C

Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh explained that a partial cold wave may affect the central districts over the next 2–3 days. While there is no active weather system in the state, cold and dry northwestern winds from the Western Himalayas, clear skies, radiative cooling, and anticyclonic conditions over central India have contributed to the recent temperature drop.

Temperature Outlook:
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain 1–4°C below normal, while nighttime lows may fall 3–5°C below average, dipping below 10°C in several areas. Residents are advised to take precautions during the late-night and early-morning hours when partial cold wave conditions are likely. Daytime sunshine may reduce the intensity of the cold during the day.

With the state experiencing lower-than-normal temperatures for both day and night, meteorologists predict a stable weather pattern over the next few days, with only minor fluctuations expected.
