Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is currently conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Under this drive, voters are being asked to fill new forms based on the 2003 voter list, leading to widespread confusion among citizens. Many voters are asking whether their names will be removed from the rolls if they were not listed in 2003. Here is a clear explanation.
Experts clarify that the 2003 voter list can be accessed in two simple ways—online and offline—depending on the voter’s convenience.
1. How to Get the 2003 List Online
To check the archived rolls digitally, voters must visit the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Uttar Pradesh.
Once on the website, look for sections such as:
- “Archived Electoral Rolls”
- “Historical Data”
- “Old Voter Lists”
These options are usually available under the Electoral Services or Downloads menu.
After locating the archive:
- Select the year 2003 or 2004 (as the final 2003 roll was published in early 2004 in many areas).
- Choose your district, assembly constituency, and polling booth number.
This information can be found on older voter IDs or by asking your parents or family members.
Download the relevant PDF voter list and search for your name, or for your parents’ names.
Locate the EPIC number (Voter ID number) written beside the entry—this is the key detail needed for the SIR form.
2. How to Get the 2003 List Offline
Those who prefer offline verification can get the old electoral rolls by contacting:
- Their local Booth Level Officer (BLO)
- The Tehsil office, where voter-related records are available
The BLO can provide accurate information from both the latest voter list and the archived 2003 rolls.
If Your Name Is Not in the 2003 List—Don’t Panic
Officials emphasize that not having your name in the 2003 electoral roll does NOT mean your name will be removed from the current list. The purpose of the SIR exercise is to update and correct the voter rolls, not to arbitrarily delete names.
For Any Doubt, Contact the BLO Immediately
Voters who are uncertain about their records or eligibility should speak directly to their BLO, who can provide updated voter list details and guide them through the form-filling process.
