Lucknow: After successfully implementing the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is now preparing to promote the state’s traditional cuisine globally through the One District, One Cuisine (ODOC) scheme. The program is scheduled to be launched on UP Day, aiming to give each district’s culinary heritage national and international recognition.
CM Yogi Reviews the Plan:
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that every district should showcase its unique taste, culture, and identity, which is the core objective of the ODOC scheme. During a review meeting on Friday evening, he highlighted signature dishes from across the state, including:
- Sona Papdi from Mainpuri
- Peda from Mathura
- Chamcham from Aligarh
- Rabri from Hathras
- Kalakand and Moong Dalma from Kasganj
- Kadha Poories and Kohra Curry from Sultanpur
- Chandrakala Sweet from Barabanki
- White Carrot Halwa from Azamgarh
- Launglata from Varanasi
- Sevaiyan from Bareilly
CM Yogi stated that traditional delicacies such as Amethi Samosa, Basti Vinegar, and Siddharthnagar’s Ramkatori sweets are not merely food items but represent local heritage, craftsmanship, and economic potential. He said these dishes will be promoted through quality certification, branding, and market access, converting cultural strength into economic growth.
Focus on Quality and Hygiene:
The CM stressed that the ODOC initiative will be implemented on the lines of ODOP, providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to local artisans, halwais, and small entrepreneurs. Food safety, hygiene, and quality will remain top priorities, with all products certified according to food safety standards.
Branding Strategy:
The scheme will involve district-specific colors, symbols, and styles. Each dish will feature a product story highlighting its culture, history, and recipe. Packaging will be food-grade, eco-friendly, and designed for extended shelf-life. Advanced technologies will ensure QR codes, nutrition labels, barcodes, and dual-language labels for traceability and consumer awareness. Regional and festival-themed packaging designs are also planned to enhance appeal.
Through ODOC, the government aims to organize and promote Uttar Pradesh’s culinary heritage, making the state’s flavors recognized and appreciated worldwide.
