Lucknow: A significant update has come for voters in Uttar Pradesh regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The Election Commission has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections in the SIR exercise. Voters now have time until March 6, 2026 to submit their applications, instead of the earlier deadline of February 6.
The final voter list is scheduled to be published on April 10, 2026.
Voter Participation So Far
So far, nearly 48 lakh people have filled out Form 6 to raise objections or update their details. However, the Election Commission considers this number relatively low, given that the draft electoral rolls indicate a total of 12.55 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh.
The extension is aimed at ensuring that more eligible citizens can verify their details, correct discrepancies, and exercise their right to be included in the final electoral list.
