
Lucknow, UP: The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has finalized fares for its electric buses, alongside announcing key decisions regarding their stops in the state capital, Lucknow. Two double-decker electric buses are currently operating between Lucknow and Ayodhya, while several other routes across the state have also been introduced.
Fare structure for electric buses
According to the official announcement, fares have been set as follows:
- Non-AC electric buses: ₹1.30 per kilometer
- AC electric “three-by-two” and Janrath buses: ₹1.64 per kilometer
- AC sleeper and electric sleeper buses: ₹2.59 per kilometer
- High-end Volvo, Scania, and premium AC electric buses: ₹2.86 per kilometer
Anil Kumar, Chief Operations Manager at UPSRTC, stated that the fare fixation aims to standardize charges across all electric buses, ensuring affordability and clarity for passengers.
Eight electric buses for Lucknow
Lucknow has been allocated a total of eight electric buses. Two buses will operate on the Lucknow–Ayodhya route, while the remaining six will serve routes connecting Lucknow with Kanpur, Haidergarh, Sitapur, Barabanki, and other destinations.
Bus stops to be strictly followed
In a major move to streamline operations, the new Managing Director of Lucknow City Transport, Amarnath Sahay, has instructed that electric buses will now halt only at designated bus stops. A list of 40 bus shelters has been released, ensuring passengers can reliably board and alight from buses at these points.
Key stops in Lucknow
Electric buses in Lucknow will stop at prominent locations, including Alambagh Metro Station, Mawaiya, Tedhi Pulia, Awadh Chowraha, Amausi Metro, Para Chowki, Charbagh Station (both sides), Polytechnic Chowraha, Sahara Bazaar, Fun Mall, Shaheed Smarak, Honeyman, Rajni Khand, Smriti Upvan, Bara Birwa, Minister Avash, Dayal Chowraha, Naderganj, and Aliganj.
Buses will operate on key routes such as Chowk–Ghantakar, Naimisharanya, Transport Nagar–Engineering College, Sarojininagar–Kamta Bus Station, Rajajipuram–Deva Road Uptran, Balaganj–GPO Hazratganj, Shakuntala University–GPO, and Balaganj–Kamta Bus Station.
Official statement
MD Amarnath Sahay highlighted that using bus shelters as designated stops will reduce congestion on city roads. He also confirmed that from February 7 to 23, the Vidhan Bhavan will remain closed, so the Lucknow Darshan double-decker bus will not operate to Vidhan Bhavan during this period. Instead, UPSRTC has decided to divert tourists to GPO and General Wali Kothi.
