UP CM Yogi Adityanath Renames Two Villages: Hajipur Becomes Siyarampur, Urmura Kirar Now Harinagar

Lucknow, Jan 31: In a recent administrative move, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has officially renamed two villages in the state. The village of Hajipur in Bharawan block, Hardoi district will now be known as Siyarampur, while Urmura Kirar, located in Shikohabad tehsil of Firozabad district, will be renamed Harinagar.

The decision follows long-standing requests from local residents and representatives who had sought the renaming of their villages. In Hardoi, the village of Hajipur, part of Bharawan development block, has been officially rechristened Siyarampur. Residents and panchayat leaders expressed satisfaction over the state government’s approval of the new name, which they say better reflects local identity and cultural heritage.

Similarly, in Firozabad district, Urmura Kirar village falls under the Vasudevamai Gram Panchayat in Shikohabad tehsil. The villagers had petitioned for the name change to Harinagar, which has now been approved by the Chief Minister. Local residents welcomed the move, describing it as a recognition of the village’s history and sentiments of the community.

Officials said the renaming process has been carried out in accordance with administrative protocols and will be updated in government records, official maps, and postal databases. The CM’s office noted that such changes are aimed at strengthening local identity and honoring historical and cultural significance.

The renaming of villages has occasionally sparked debate in various states, but in this case, authorities report widespread support from residents, who expressed happiness over the decision. The move is expected to have a lasting impact on administrative, postal, and electoral records in the respective districts.
