UP Cabinet Approves Board for Doctor & Medical Teacher Recruitment, Appointments to be Fast-Tracked

Lucknow: In a major step to strengthen healthcare and medical education in Uttar Pradesh, the state cabinet has approved the formation of the UP Specialist Doctor & Medical Teacher Recruitment Board. The new board aims to streamline and expedite the recruitment process for doctors in hospitals and faculty members in medical colleges.

Faster Recruitment Process
Previously, appointments of specialist doctors and medical teachers were conducted through the UP Public Service Commission, a process that could take 8–10 months for exams and additional six months or more for final appointments. Often, selected specialists would join other institutions before completing the formalities, leaving critical vacancies unfilled. With the new board in place, the recruitment process will be significantly faster and more efficient.

Unified Recruitment for All Medical Colleges
The newly formed board will conduct recruitment exams based on the requirements of all medical colleges simultaneously, eliminating the need for separate advertisements and examinations for each institution. Appointments will then be made according to merit, ensuring timely placement of doctors and medical faculty. This unified approach will save considerable time and resources for the state’s healthcare and education departments.

Cabinet Clears Way for New Universities
In addition to the recruitment board, the UP Cabinet also approved the establishment of new universities in Shahjahanpur, Bhadohi, and Gorakhpur. Educational institutions under the Mumuksha Ashram Trust in Shahjahanpur will be upgraded to a university. Similarly, Kashi Naresh PG College in Bhadohi will be elevated to university status. Gorakhpur will see the establishment of the state’s first Forestry & Horticulture University under the Forest and Environment Department. Necessary amendments to the UP State Universities Act, 1974, have also been approved to facilitate these initiatives.

The formation of the recruitment board and new universities is expected to significantly enhance medical education and healthcare services across Uttar Pradesh.
