Sehore Police have cracked a major theft case in Kajlas village, arresting two men, Shadab Shah and Salman alias Sultan, and recovering gold, silver, and cash worth approximately Rs 48 lakh.
Theft While Family Attended Wedding
The incident occurred on 2 December when complainant Atul Jain and his family had gone to Gwalior for a wedding. Upon returning, they discovered their home ransacked. The burglars broke the lock of a cupboard and stole around 30 tolas of gold, 3 kilograms of silver, and Rs 2 lakh in cash. Atul Jain filed a report with Jawar Police on 6 December.
Suspicious Spending Leads to Breakthrough
Under the supervision of SP Deepak Kumar Shukla, Jawar Police formed a special investigation team. Using CCTV footage, cyber evidence, and local informants, the team noticed that Shadab Shah, a laborer from Kajlas village, had begun spending unusually large amounts, buying a new mobile and other expensive items.
Confession and Arrest
Shadab was taken into custody for questioning. He confessed to committing the theft along with his cousin Salman. The duo had insider knowledge of the house, as Shadab had previously worked on construction there. On the nights of 3–4 December, while the family was away, the accused climbed the low boundary wall, removed the tin sheet roof, entered the house, and broke the lock on the iron cupboard to carry out the theft.
Recovery of Stolen Goods
Police recovered approximately 30 tolas (300 grams) of gold, nearly 2.9 kilograms of silver, and Rs 1.24 lakh in cash from the accused. The total estimated value of the recovered property is around Rs 48 lakh. SDOP Ashta Akash Amalkar, Inspector Nita Dearwal, Sub-Inspector Ajay Jojha, Sushil Salve, and Shailendra were actively involved in the operation.
