Unemployment in Uttar Pradesh Drops to 2.4% in 8 Years Under Yogi Government, Millions Gain Jobs Through GCC Policy 2025 and UP Employment Mission

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a remarkable transformation in employment and industrial development over the eight years of the Yogi Adityanath government. The state’s unemployment rate, which had once soared to 19%, has now dropped to a mere 2.4%, reflecting the rapid expansion of job opportunities, industrial growth, and successful skill development initiatives.

GCC Policy 2025 and UP Employment Mission Drive Job Creation

The state government’s GCC Policy 2025 has played a pivotal role in shaping the employment landscape. By attracting global companies, the policy aims to generate over 200,000 new high-level technical jobs, providing youth with enhanced employment prospects. In parallel, the UP Employment Mission has facilitated employment for 125,000 individuals within a single year, significantly boosting the state’s employment rate.

MSME Sector Strengthens Local Economy

Currently, over 9.6 million MSME units operate across Uttar Pradesh, collectively generating more than 2 crore jobs to date. In the past year alone, the sector has created 18 lakh new employment opportunities, empowering small entrepreneurs and strengthening rural economies. Government incentives and easy loan schemes have turned this sector into the largest source of local employment in towns and villages.

Skill Development and Youth Employment

Under the State Skill Development Mission, approximately 1.4 million youth have received training, with 566,000 directly securing jobs. The availability of skilled manpower has enabled local industries to expand, reducing the need for youth to migrate to urban centers for employment. Female participation in industrial employment has risen to 25%, contributing to economic empowerment and social development in rural areas.

Employment Mega-Events and Social Security Measures

Programs such as Rozgar Mahakumbh 2025 and various financial initiatives have provided youth with guaranteed minimum wages and social security benefits. These measures have enhanced transparency in the job market and strengthened young people’s confidence in government efforts. The positive impact is most visible in rural areas, where youth now find work in their own villages and regions, reducing migration to cities. Increased female employment has further improved the economic stability of rural households.

Towards a Developed Uttar Pradesh by 2047

By prioritizing employment as the foundation of development, the Uttar Pradesh government has set an ambitious goal of transforming the state into a developed state by 2047. Organized planning, expanded investment, and strong political will are driving the state toward sustainable economic growth and social progress.
