Ghazipur/Delhi: Umar Ansari, the younger son of Mukhtar Ansari, tied the knot on 15 November in a private ceremony at Ashok Lawn, Delhi. Two days later, on 17 November, a grand reception was hosted in the capital, attended by several prominent figures from politics and the legal fraternity.

Notable guests included former Vice President Hamid Ansari, senior Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav, MPs Ikra Hasan and Priya Saroj, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi, former MLA Irfan Solanki, and Osama Shahabuddin, son of Shababuddin.

During the wedding, Umar became emotional remembering his late father Mukhtar Ansari. He showed his bride Fatima a photograph of his father on stage and sought his blessings. Fatima, Umar’s bride, is the granddaughter of renowned businessman Malik Miyan from Ghazipur’s Muhammadabad area. The families have known each other for many years. Umar had recently been released from Kasganj jail on 30 October, where he was imprisoned in a case linked to alleged forged documents by his mother.

The reception saw active participation from political circles, with Afzal Ansari, Umar’s uncle and senior Samajwadi Party MP from Ghazipur, Abbas Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s elder son and Mhow Sadar MLA, and Mannu Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s nephew and MLA from Muhammadabad, welcoming guests. Also present was Balya-based Samajwadi Party MP Sanatan Pandey.
