Ghaziabad, January 24:
Mahamandaleshwar Yati Narsinghanand Giri of the Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara has made serious allegations regarding the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, claiming that it is part of a larger international conspiracy involving Arab countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates.
Yati Narsinghanand Giri was detained by the Ghaziabad police on Saturday while he was on his way to Delhi to protest against the UGC Act. He, along with his followers, had planned to stage an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. However, the police prevented him from leaving and placed him under house arrest at his temple, citing law and order concerns.
Speaking to the media, the Mahamandaleshwar claimed that senior officials from India’s top intelligence agencies have allegedly discussed that the UGC Act is influenced by global Islamic think tanks. According to him, these groups believe that “complete Islamisation of India is not possible unless the DNA of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas is altered.”
He further stated that these communities have historically acted as a protective shield for Sanatan Dharma and that weakening this “shield” would pave the way for fundamental changes in India’s cultural and religious fabric. On this basis, he alleged that the UGC Act was introduced as part of a long-term strategy to undermine Sanatan traditions.
Calling his detention a violation of democratic rights, Yati Narsinghanand Giri appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene and “protect Sanatan Dharma.” He described the Act as a “well-planned conspiracy” aimed at transforming India’s social, cultural, and religious structure.
The authorities, meanwhile, have not issued any official statement regarding the allegations. Police sources maintain that preventive action was taken solely to avoid potential unrest.
