Two Seventh-Grade Girls Attempt Suicide by Consuming Poison in Meerut School, Police Launch Investigation

Meerut, 25 February 2026: In a shocking incident in Meerut’s Incholi police station area, two seventh-grade girls allegedly consumed a poisonous substance inside their school premises on Tuesday, causing their health to deteriorate. Both students have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the girls, who live in the same village with houses facing each other, arrived at school together in the morning as usual. Classmates revealed that shortly before the incident, the girls had been asking others about how to consume poison. Their questions were not taken seriously at the time, but within a short while, both students began to feel unwell and started vomiting.

The school administration and the parents were immediately alerted. The girls were rushed to a private hospital in Modipuram. Doctors have stated that both students are now in stable condition and out of danger.

Preliminary information suggests that the girls may have ingested a toxic substance stored for grains, though official confirmation will be made after investigation.

Sadar Dehat Circle Officer Sudhir Singh stated that the police have begun an investigation and will question the girls once they recover to determine the circumstances leading to the attempt.

The school principal mentioned that the girls were academically good and there were no disciplinary issues or disputes at school. The parents also confirmed that neither of the children was being scolded or pressured at home.

Authorities are currently probing the reasons behind this alarming act, while police continue to investigate the matter seriously.
