Ayodhya:
A major security lapse has been reported at the Ayodhya District Jail, where two inmates escaped after breaking out of a solitary confinement barrack, triggering panic among jail authorities and the district administration.

The absconding prisoners have been identified as Golu Agrahari, a resident of Amethi, and Sher Ali, a native of Sultanpur. According to officials, both inmates managed to break the walls of the isolation barrack and later scaled the boundary wall to flee the prison premises.

Among the escapees, one was lodged in jail in connection with an attempt-to-murder case, while the other was facing charges of rape.

The incident came to light during routine checks, following which an extensive search operation was launched. Police teams have been deployed across nearby districts to trace and arrest the fugitives.

Seven Jail Officials Suspended

Taking swift disciplinary action, Director General (Prisons) P.C. Meena ordered the suspension of seven jail officials, citing gross negligence of duty. Those suspended include Senior Jail Superintendent Uday Pratap Mishra, Jailer J.K. Yadav, Deputy Jailer Mayank Tripathi, along with one head warder and three jail warders.

Senior officials termed the incident a serious breach of prison security and confirmed that a departmental inquiry has been initiated to ascertain responsibility.

Authorities have assured that stringent action will be taken against all those found guilty, while efforts to recapture the escaped prisoners are continuing.
