Mathura: In a shocking case of crime under the guise of uniform, two PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel have been dismissed from service for their involvement in a robbery targeting a silver trader in Hathras. The accused, Narendra and Lakhmi, posted with the 15th Agra Battalion of PAC, are currently behind bars along with other accomplices.
The incident, which took place on the night of January 5, unfolded like a scene from a thriller. Yogesh Kumar, a silver trader from Sadabad, Gopura in Hathras, had traveled to Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, on January 4 for business purposes. Around 2:30 AM the next day, as he arrived at Mathura Junction via the Patalakot Express and proceeded toward the parking area, he was surrounded by men in a car. Claiming to be police officers, the assailants threatened him and made off with a bag containing silver and cash.
Swift Action by Police
The severity of the incident prompted SSP Shlok Kumar to mobilize the local police and the Special Operations Group (SOG). Investigations revealed the culprits were none other than those sworn to protect the public. Four accused, including Narendra from Jamunapar and Lakhmi from Magorra, were apprehended. Following the SSP’s recommendation, the PAC headquarters conducted a formal inquiry.
Dismissal from Service
Commandant Narendra Kumar Singh of the 15th PAC Battalion confirmed that the inquiry found both personnel guilty of serious misconduct and criminal activity. They were immediately dismissed from service for tarnishing the department’s image.
“This case sends a clear message: there is no place in the system for those who commit crimes under the cover of a uniform. Such individuals not only bring shame to the uniform but also breach the public’s trust,” the PAC official stated.
