‘Two-Minute Maggi’ Sparks Chaos at Gandhi Medical College; Rods and Sticks Used, 15 Students Suspended

Bhopal: A shocking incident at Gandhi Medical College (GMC) in Bhopal has triggered widespread concern across the medical fraternity. A trivial argument over preparing Maggi noodles escalated into a violent clash between two groups of MBBS students, leading to multiple injuries and the suspension of 15 students.

The fight broke out at the college’s Sudhamrit Café late on Thursday night. According to sources, two groups of junior doctors—who had just returned from an AIIMS Bhopal fest—got into a heated argument over whose Maggi would be prepared first. What began as a minor disagreement quickly spiraled into a full-blown brawl.

Violence Erupts; Rods and Sticks Used

Witnesses reported that some students involved in the altercation were under the influence of alcohol, further aggravating the situation. As the quarrel intensified, it turned into a showdown between day scholars and hostel residents, with both sides allegedly attacking each other using iron rods and wooden sticks.

Several students sustained injuries in the clash. One student, who attempted to intervene, received serious wounds and had to be admitted to the ICU, while another injured student was treated and discharged.

College Calls It “Severe Indiscipline”; Swift Action Taken

The administration of Gandhi Medical College termed the incident an act of gross indiscipline. Following an emergency meeting chaired by GMC Dean Dr. Kavita N. Singh on December 5, the college issued immediate suspension orders against 15 students involved in the violence.

The college stated firmly that such behaviour is unacceptable in an institution where students are expected to uphold discipline, maturity, and professional ethics. Authorities have indicated that a deeper investigation is underway and further action may follow.
