In a major breakthrough, Noida Police have busted a bike theft gang operating in Noida and Delhi NCR, led by identical twin brothers. Four gang members, including the twin leaders, have been arrested for stealing bikes, dismantling them, and selling parts to scrap dealers.
Modus Operandi
The gang carried out reconnaissance in residential colonies, societies, and company premises across Noida and Delhi NCR. Using smart keys, they would unlock and steal bikes and scooters. The stolen vehicles were then dismantled into parts: engines and wiring were fitted into new machines, while other components like tires, silencers, and headlights were sold as scrap. Some bikes were also sold on demand.
The twin brothers coordinated the operation: one managed the scrap shop in Ballabhgarh, Haryana, while another handled the storage of engine and wiring components at a scrap shop in Delhi. Remaining parts were transported discreetly through isolated village roads to Ballabhgarh for resale.
Arrest and Seizure
The gang was identified after CCTV footage from theft sites was analyzed. On Monday, police apprehended four suspects near Sector 14A: Shadab (aka Rutba), Arman (aka Sutta), Ulman, and Vijay.
During the operation, authorities recovered:
- 15 stolen bikes
- 12 bike fuel tanks
- 5 silencers
- 4 mudguards
- 2 tires and multiple iron rims
The total value of recovered items exceeds ₹15 lakh. Of the 15 bikes recovered, 9 had prior cases registered at Phase 1 police station, and the accused face 33 cases across Noida and Delhi.
Police Statement
Noida DCP Yamuna Prasad confirmed that the gang meticulously planned thefts, reconnoitered target locations, and dismantled bikes to avoid detection. Vijay, one of the arrested, admitted that his brother managed the scrap shop and that parts were systematically processed and transported for resale. The police are continuing the investigation to locate and apprehend the remaining members of the gang, including the twin brothers running the operation.
This arrest is expected to curb a significant surge in bike thefts in the Noida-Delhi NCR region and sends a strong warning to organized criminal networks operating in the area.
