Truck Falls from Flyover onto Road in Jabalpur, Two Killed; Family in Car Narrowly Escapes

Jabalpur: A tragic accident on Tuesday afternoon in Shahpura area of Jabalpur claimed two lives after a heavy construction truck plunged off a flyover onto vehicles moving on the road below.

According to police, the high-speed truck, engaged in ongoing flyover construction work, lost control around 3 p.m., broke through the boundary barrier, and crashed onto the side road. A motorcyclist was crushed under the vehicle and died on the spot. The truck driver also succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Motorcyclist killed, car occupants injured

The deceased motorcyclist was identified as 35-year-old Balram Yadav, a resident of Natwara. A car passing beneath the flyover was struck at the rear by the falling truck. The four members of the family inside the vehicle sustained injuries but narrowly escaped a fatal outcome. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reported to be out of danger. The injured family is said to be from Bhopal.

Patan SDOP Lokesh Dabar said the accident occurred within Shahpura police station limits where flyover construction is underway. The truck, allegedly moving at speed, became uncontrollable before plunging off the structure.

Bodies recovered after rescue operation

Police teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information. The motorcyclist’s body was found trapped beneath the truck, while the driver’s body was stuck inside the cabin. Both were recovered after a rescue effort and sent for postmortem examination.

The identity of the truck driver has not yet been confirmed, and authorities are working to establish details. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The incident has raised serious concerns over safety measures at ongoing construction sites and traffic management around infrastructure projects.
