Tragic Landslide in Sonbhadra’s Kirwani Forest Claims 3 Lives, 3 Women Injured

Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh: A tragic accident occurred in Kirwani Forest when six women were buried under a collapsing mound of soil while collecting earth for daily household use. Rescue teams recovered three bodies, while two women were pulled out safely and one remains missing.

The incident took place in the Myorpur police station area, where local women had gone to collect soil. During the excavation, a large mound suddenly gave way, engulfing the women. Villagers raised the alarm, prompting the SDM, CO, and police teams to rush to the scene.

Rescue Operation:
Relief and rescue operations were immediately initiated with the help of a JCB machine. Three women—identified as Sadduki Nisha (35), Akili (35), and Sita (30)—were found deceased. Two women were rescued safely, and one woman is still missing. Injured woman Phul Kumari (35) was sent to the hospital for treatment.

Community in Mourning:
The tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the local community. Families of the victims are devastated. Administration has expedited the relief operations and initiated legal procedures to investigate the incident.

Authorities have urged villagers to exercise extreme caution when engaging in soil excavation and other risky activities, highlighting the dangers posed by unstable terrain in the forest area.
