Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh:
A shocking accident occurred in Gwalior’s Janakganj police station area on Thursday when a live high-tension electricity line suddenly snapped and fell on a group of cattle resting on the ground. Eight bovines died on the spot, triggering massive anger among local residents and activists.
As soon as news of the incident spread, a large number of Bajrang Dal workers reached the location and staged a strong protest against the electricity department, accusing officials of gross negligence.
‘Faulty, Dilapidated Wires Used’: Bajrang Dal Leaders Allegation
Bajrang Dal district office-bearers, including Manoj Rajak, rushed to the spot upon receiving the information. Rajak levelled serious allegations against the electricity department, claiming that the area has been fitted with weak, outdated, and poorly maintained high-tension wires, despite repeated complaints from citizens.
“This tragic incident happened solely due to the department’s negligence. Innocent cattle lost their lives because the authorities failed to replace dangerously decayed wires,”

Protesters Demand FIR; Sit-In to Continue Until Action Taken
Angry residents and workers began a sit-in protest, demanding that FIRs be registered against the responsible officers. They declared that the demonstration would not be called off until strict action is taken against the officials in charge of high-tension line maintenance.
Police Assurance: ‘Technical Probe Underway’
Police teams soon reached the spot to bring the situation under control. Station In-charge Atul Solanki said that the initial investigation suggests the deaths occurred due to electrocution caused by the fallen wire.
He added that a joint technical investigation with the electricity department is being conducted and that “appropriate action will be taken as per rules.”
Locals Blame Department’s Apathy
Residents allege that several power lines in the area are old, loose, and prone to accidents, yet the department has failed to carry out repairs or replacements. Following the incident, electricity supply to multiple neighbourhoods was disrupted, causing additional inconvenience.
