Tragic Incident in Bengaluru: 3-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Artificial Pond at Maternity Photoshoot Studio

Bengaluru: In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the city, a three-year-old boy drowned in an artificial pond at a popular pre-wedding and maternity photoshoot location in Bengaluru. The incident took place at The Shayar Photo Studio, located in Giddenahalli village under the Madanayakanahalli Police Station limits.

The victim has been identified as Lakshveer C, who had accompanied his mother Swathi to the studio while she attended a maternity photoshoot of her pregnant friend.

Mother Busy in Photoshoot, Child Went Missing

According to police, the tragedy occurred at around 2:30 pm when Swathi was engaged in the photoshoot activities while the child was reportedly playing within the studio premises. Investigators suspect that the boy wandered near one of the artificial ponds and accidentally slipped into it.

The studio reportedly has three small artificial ponds, and police believe the child may have approached one of them unsupervised.

Two Feet Deep Water Proved Fatal

Officials stated that the pond contained more than two feet of water, which proved fatal for the child. The boy, who was approximately three feet tall, may have lost balance and possibly got stuck in mud inside the pond.

When Swathi realised her son was missing, she began searching the premises. The child was later found submerged in one of the ponds.

Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead

Studio staff immediately pulled the boy out of the pond and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead.

Father in the US, Returning After Tragedy

Swathi’s husband, Charan Raj, a software engineer, had reportedly travelled to the United States about a week earlier for work. Police confirmed that he has been informed about the incident and is on his way back to Bengaluru.

Case Registered as Unnatural Death

Based on a complaint filed by the child’s grandfather Ramesh Babu, Madanayakanahalli Police registered a case of unnatural death. The complaint reportedly does not directly blame the studio management.

After post-mortem examination at the Nelamangala Government Hospital, the child’s body was handed over to the family.

Family in Deep Shock

Police said the grandparents are in severe shock and are unable to give detailed statements. Swathi has requested time before appearing for her official statement.

The incident has raised serious concerns over safety measures at commercial photoshoot locations, especially those with open water bodies and inadequate supervision.
