
Ratlam: A horrifying accident occurred on India’s state-of-the-art Delhi-Mumbai 8-lane Expressway near Ratlam early Thursday morning, claiming the lives of five people, including a 12-year-old child.
According to reports, a Mahindra XUV700 was traveling at high speed towards Mumbai when it lost control near the Mahi River in the Rawati police jurisdiction. The vehicle smashed through the bridge railing and plunged approximately 50 feet into a rocky gorge, leaving the car completely mangled.
Scene of Devastation:
The impact was so severe that the car was torn apart, with debris scattered across a wide area. Emergency responders had to use gas cutters to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage. Eyewitnesses described the scene as shocking and heart-wrenching.
Loss of Control:
Initial reports suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle in the Mahi area at around 6 AM. Within seconds, the car broke through the safety railing and fell into the gorge. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed, with possibilities including overspeeding or a sudden technical failure.
Local Response:
Hearing the screams, nearby villagers and expressway staff rushed to the site and alerted the police. All five victims were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are working to identify the deceased and have contacted family members using vehicle registration details.
