
Kanpur, Feb 2:A tragic road accident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, claimed the lives of a husband and wife when a high-speed loader collided with their motorcycle on Sunday, police said. The driver of the loader fled the scene, and authorities have launched a search for him.
According to reports, Chandrapal Singh Yadav (43), a factory worker from Kanpur’s Chakeri area, was traveling with his wife Anita Devi (40) to her brother-in-law’s house in Damodar on their motorcycle. The couple was nearing the Manglavihar Underpass when the speeding loader struck them from behind. Chandrapal died instantly at the scene.
The injured wife was rushed to a nearby hospital by local residents. She was later referred to Halat Hospital in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, she also succumbed to her injuries.
The couple’s son, Ashish, described the horror of the accident, saying that the loader hit the motorcycle near a large culvert underpass, and bystanders raised an alarm as the driver fled the scene.
Police Response
Chakeri Inspector Ajay Prakash Mishra confirmed that the police reached the site after receiving information about the accident. The loader driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped. The bodies of the deceased were taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Further action will be taken after the family files an official complaint.
Authorities are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information about the loader driver to come forward. Local residents expressed concern over speeding vehicles in the area, highlighting the need for stricter traffic enforcement to prevent such tragedies in the future.
