
Jammu: In a tragic incident in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Army vehicle slipped off the road and plunged into a 200-foot gorge, resulting in the death of four soldiers and injuries to nine others. Officials confirmed that rescue operations were immediately launched.
The accident occurred on Thursday near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate route. The vehicle, carrying a total of 17 soldiers, was en route to a high-altitude army post when the driver reportedly lost control, causing it to fall into the deep gorge. Four soldiers were pronounced dead at the scene, while nine others sustained injuries and were promptly provided medical attention.
Rescue Amid Challenging Conditions
Army and local administration teams reached the accident site immediately despite difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Injured soldiers were given first aid on-site and later airlifted to Udhampur for advanced medical treatment.
Officials noted that some of the injured soldiers are in critical condition, and their health is being closely monitored. The incident has sent waves of grief throughout the region.
