Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh: A young man’s passion for creating social media content turned fatal at the Rihand Reservoir in Singrauli on Tuesday. Santosh Shah, along with his friends, was shooting a reel while standing on a boat in the middle of the dam when he slipped and fell into the deep waters. Despite immediate rescue attempts, his body has not yet been recovered.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in Baliyari area under the Kotwali police jurisdiction. According to eyewitnesses, Santosh, eager to make the reel more engaging, stood at the edge of the boat. Suddenly, he lost his balance and fell into the reservoir. Struggling to save himself, he was quickly overpowered by the strong current.
Those present reported that Santosh could not swim, which made the situation even more dangerous. His friends, shocked and helpless, tried to call for help and alert others, but by the time assistance arrived, Santosh had disappeared beneath the water. Local villagers rushed to the scene and attempted a rescue, but the strong flow of water prevented anyone from entering safely.
Rescue Operations Underway
The police and administration quickly reached the site and launched a rescue operation with the help of divers. However, due to darkness, the search had to be suspended for the night. Operations resumed early Wednesday morning in an effort to locate Santosh.
Santosh, the youngest of three brothers, was unmarried and helped his family financially by selling milk. His sudden death has left his family in shock and mourning.
