Tragedy Strikes After Vaccination in Datia: One Child Dies, Three Hospitalized; Investigation Ordered

Datia, Madhya Pradesh: A tragic incident occurred in Kakrauwa village of Dursada police station area, Datia district, following a routine vaccination drive. One child lost their life, while three others fell seriously ill. Families have accused the health department of negligence and are demanding a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible.

The incident took place on Friday evening when an ASHA worker administered vaccines to four children. According to the families, each child was given three injections at their homes. Shortly afterward, the children began showing symptoms of distress, weakness, and deteriorating health. Tragically, one child passed away, while the remaining three were rushed to Datia District Hospital for treatment.

The vaccination drive had been conducted in the presence of Anganwadi and health staff. Villagers reported that the sudden decline in the children’s health caused widespread panic in the area. Family members of the deceased child expressed deep grief, revealing that the mother, Neha, had already lost her first son, has a daughter aged around three, and is now grappling with the death of her third child.

The news sparked outrage among villagers, who gathered at the Datia Collector’s residence on Saturday morning, accusing the health department of gross negligence. They demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible for the tragedy.

In response, Datia Collector Swapnil Wankhede ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter. He stated that the entire incident will be thoroughly investigated and anyone found negligent will face strict consequences. A detailed report from the health department has been requested. The deceased child’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and the authorities have said that the exact cause of death will be determined after the report is received.
