
In a tragic incident in Banka district, Bihar, a sub-inspector on night patrol was fatally run over by a truck being driven by an untrained helper, highlighting a grave case of negligence. The accident occurred late Wednesday night near Sankat Mochan Chowk in the Panjwara police station area, claiming the life of Sub-Inspector Purendra Singh on the spot.

Purendra Singh, a resident of Supaul Jamua village in Munger district, was patrolling the area on foot when the truck struck him. Despite immediate medical attention, he was declared dead at the local hospital. The tragedy sent shockwaves across the police department and the Panjwara community.
Driver Negligence Exposed
Preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was being driven by a helper in place of the regular driver, whose negligence directly led to the fatal accident. The truck driver initially attempted to flee the scene, but alert police personnel chased and apprehended him along with the helper.

Banka Superintendent of Police, Upendra Verma, visited the site immediately after the incident, instructed officials to secure the area, and ordered a thorough investigation. The helper has been arrested, and the truck has been seized. The body of Sub-Inspector Singh has been sent for post-mortem, and legal proceedings are underway. Chandan Kumar, Station Officer of Panjwara, confirmed that a comprehensive probe is ongoing to examine all aspects of the case.

The Panjwara police station is in mourning, and his family—wife, one son, and two daughters—residing in Deoghar, Jharkhand, have arrived at the scene in grief.
