Tonk, Rajasthan: Tonk District Collector, IAS Kalpana Agarwal, made headlines once again with her surprise inspection of the Annapurna Rasoi in Deoli. During the inspection, the Collector expressed strong displeasure over the poor quality of food being served. The dal was watery, and the taste was unsatisfactory, prompting her to issue immediate orders for corrective measures. She also instructed the Municipal Corporation to conduct regular monitoring of the kitchen operations.
Collector’s Inspection Reveals Negligence
Collector Kalpana Agarwal personally checked the cooking process at the Annapurna Rasoi located at the bus stand. Demonstrating her commitment to hygiene, she removed her shoes before entering the kitchen and closely observed the food preparation. She found the dal excessively watery and, upon tasting it, noted that it lacked proper flavor. Expressing her displeasure, she directed the staff to improve the quality of meals immediately.
Lack of Stock Raises Concerns
During the inspection, it was also found that the kitchen did not have an adequate stock of dry food supplies. Staff explained that the materials had run out that very day, which the Collector found unacceptable. She ordered that the Municipal Corporation staff conduct daily monitoring of both food quality and stock levels and ensure discrepancies in daily meal counts are addressed.
Rainshelter Facilities Checked
The inspection continued at the local rain shelter, where the Collector, accompanied by Deoli SDM Ruby Ansar and the Tehsildar, checked the cleanliness of beds and mattresses. A senior citizen highlighted that access to the shelter was only allowed after 8 PM, causing difficulty during the cold nights. Acting promptly, the Collector directed the shelter management to allow early entry.
Police officials, municipal staff, and other officers were present during the inspection. Collector Kalpana Agarwal’s strict approach emphasizes her commitment to public service and accountability, sending a clear message about maintaining quality standards in public welfare programs.
