Tomato Prices Surge in Delhi; NCCF Offers Relief at ₹52/kg

New Delhi: With tomato prices soaring across Delhi and other parts of India, the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF) has launched a subsidized sale of tomatoes in several areas of the capital starting Tuesday, providing relief to consumers. Under the initiative, ‘Janah’ brand tomatoes are available at ₹52 per kilogram, significantly lower than the retail market rates of ₹60–80/kg caused by disrupted supply due to recent rains.

In addition to tomatoes, onions are being sold at ₹15 per kilogram under the Government of India’s Market Intervention Scheme, ensuring the availability of essential food items at affordable rates.

To make these essential commodities accessible, NCCF has deployed mobile vans and retail outlets across key locations in Delhi-NCR, including Agriculture Bhawan, CGO Complex, Khan Market, Barakhamba Road, Kailash Colony, Parliament Street, Lodhi Colony, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Vigyan Bhawan, Jamnagar House, Rajiv Chowk Metro, Jor Bagh, Defence Colony, RK Puram, Lajpat Nagar, Nehru Place, Okhla Phase-1, Hauz Khas, Rohini, Dwarka, Noida, and Gurugram.

NCCF stated that this initiative aims to ease inflationary pressures, maintain market balance, and ensure steady availability of essential food items for consumers in the capital.
