Toddler Found Crying Alone as Couple Lies Unconscious on Floor; Domestic Dispute Ends in Tragedy in Hathras

Hathras: A heartbreaking incident from Hathras district has shocked the local community. In Madhav Vihar Colony, a young couple consumed poison following a domestic dispute, leading to the death of the wife and leaving the husband in critical condition. Their two-year-old daughter was found crying helplessly near them when neighbours rushed in.

The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday evening when residents of the colony heard continuous crying coming from the house. On entering, they saw Gopal Yadav (25) and his wife Priya (22) lying unconscious on the floor. The couple had reportedly consumed poison after an argument turned violent.

Neighbours immediately rushed them to the district hospital, but Priya was declared dead during treatment. Gopal’s condition was critical, and he was referred to Aligarh Medical College for advanced care.

A Family Torn Apart

According to police, Gopal, who works in brass casting, and Priya had been married since 2021. They lived with their two-year-old daughter. On Tuesday evening, a heated argument broke out between the two, after which the couple took the drastic step.

The couple’s toddler, unaware of the tragedy, was crying continuously beside her unconscious parents—an image that deeply moved neighbours and medical staff alike.

Police Begin Investigation

Police arrived at the hospital soon after the information was received. The body of Priya has been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the incident.

This tragic case highlights the growing concern over rising domestic conflicts and their devastating impact on families—especially innocent children caught in the middle.
