Siliguri, Jan 31:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, alleging that no other administration in the country is as corrupt as the Mamata Banerjee-led regime.
Addressing a meeting of BJP workers in Siliguri, Shah accused the state government of rampant corruption and claimed that it was also obstructing critical border security measures along the international boundary.
The Home Minister alleged that the West Bengal government had failed to provide land required by the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing work, despite repeated requests from the Centre.
“I had stated in Parliament that the BSF needs land for fencing. I wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seven times. I even personally visited her office, yet the land was not provided,” Shah said.
He asserted that the Centre remains committed to strengthening national security but alleged that political considerations and administrative apathy by the state government were hampering efforts to secure the borders.
Shah’s remarks come amid heightened political tension between the BJP and the ruling TMC ahead of upcoming electoral battles in the state.
