
New Delhi: Panic erupted in Mahipalpur, Delhi, near the Radisson Hotel, when a loud sound was mistaken for an explosion. The incident occurred shortly after news of the Red Fort car blast, causing widespread alarm. The fire department received the call at 9:18 PM, prompting an immediate response.
No Explosion, Only a Tire Burst
Delhi Police quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the noise. Initial findings confirm that no explosion occurred; the loud sound was caused by a bus tire bursting. Police have ruled out any threat, and the area has been declared safe.
Authorities Investigate Thoroughly
Delhi Police officers are continuing to investigate to ensure public safety and confirm the source of the sound. No suspicious activity or materials were found during the inspection.
Red Fort Blast: DNA Confirms Bomber Identity
Separately, in the ongoing investigation of the Red Fort blast, authorities have identified the attacker as Omar Nabi. DNA samples collected from his mother and brother were matched with remains recovered from the blast site near the LNJP Hospital, confirming his identity. A piece of the attacker’s foot was recovered from the I20 car steering, which further verified the DNA match.
