Narmadapuram (MP): A thrilling encounter between a tiger and a cow unfolded on the Tawanagar road near Itarsi, leaving passersby both stunned and alarmed. The tiger, on the prowl for prey, was stalking a cow when the noise of nearby vehicles and bystanders foiled its attempt. The entire episode was captured on video.
Tiger on the Hunt
The footage shows the tiger closely monitoring a cow walking along the road. Vehicles passing by had to halt as people watched in astonishment. Employees of Punjab National Bank, on their way to duty from Itarsi on Wednesday morning, captured the incident. The tiger appeared to be in a hunting mode, circling the cow and waiting for the right moment to strike.
Close Call
The tiger prowled around the cow for several minutes, searching for an opportunity. However, the loud voices of onlookers from inside a nearby car startled the predator, forcing it to retreat toward the forest. Eventually, the cow safely exited near the bushes, confirming that the tiger could not make a kill.
Public Safety Concerns
The tiger’s presence so close to the road has raised safety concerns among commuters, especially those traveling by bike. The area falls within the Satpura Tiger Reserve, and tigers occasionally venture out of the core forest area, leading to such close encounters.
This dramatic face-off serves as a reminder of the increasing interactions between wildlife and humans near forest boundaries and the importance of vigilance in these areas.
